The Vegan or plants based diets
Veganism or being vegan is the practice of not consuming animal products. It mainly refers to one’s diet but goes as far as avoiding zoos and other associated philosophies as wearing leather clothing. Most vegans are animal lovers and tend to protect animals at all costs.
Pros:
- Veganism is greatly associated with weight loss, but it has many other benefits.
- It is widely agreed that the vegan diet lowers the risk of many diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases.
- People have seen a total cure from incurable diseases such as autoimmune diseases. - Another benefit of the vegan diet is the increase in certain vitamins and nutrients. This is because vegans have to eat a lot more nutrient-rich foods to compensate for the lack of animal products.
But with all these benefits, there must be some downsides to be vegan.
Cons
With a diet that cuts out as many foods as this one does, it is a little hard to keep up
with. It is much harder to eat at restaurants. It is quite surprising how many
non-dairy related foods contain milk. Even though the vegan diet offers many
more beneficial vitamins, there are some nutrients and proteins that can only
be obtained from meat. One of these important nutrients is vitamin B-12. But if
adequate amounts of this vitamin are not available in your diet, you can always
take vitamin pills.
